The most common reason your Subaru's check engine light comes on is that the gas cap is not properly closed. To fix it, remove the gas cap and then put it back on, tightening it until it clicks. It may take a few drives before your Subaru recognizes the fix and the check engine light turns off.
Other common reasons why you check engine light may come on in your Subaru include:
