2011 Impreza WRX & Impreza WRX STI: Preview

Model Line-up
Subaru Impreza WRX and Impreza WRX STI are proven high-performance vehicles. Both
models are now offered in a Sedan and 5-Door body style - with the addition of the new WRX
STI 4-Door Sedan. The wide-body design, matched to a lowered ride height, creates less
drag for a sleek look and higher top speed. With a long list of performance-directed features,
plus standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and the responsive Subaru Boxer® engine, WRX
and WRX STI are designed to establish Subaru as a leader in the compact sport segment.

Performance:
Impreza WRX models feature updated suspension tuning to improve overall handling performance:
     - Increased front and rear track width (1.5 inches)
     - Stiffer rear subframe bushings
Impreza WRX STI models feature lowered ride height and improved suspension tuning; the suspension is more positively mounted to the vehicle body to help provide tighter handling, less body roll and improved steering feel. Enhancements include:
     - Inverted-strut front suspension with forged aluminum-alloy lower L-arms now 
       feature pillow ball-type front bushings (a popular aftermarket item for auto-sport
       enthusiasts)
     - Stiffer bushings in the rear subframe
     - Higher spring rates in front and rear - 15.6% increase in front and 53% in rear
     - Heavier front and rear stabilizer bars (21 mm front; 19 mm rear) - an increase of 1 mm 
       compared to previous models
Impreza WRX front brake calipers now have a brake pad return spring built into the lower portion of the caliper. The return spring assists in pulling away from the brake rotor, reducing brake drag and improving overall vehicle fuel efficiency

Exterior:
Impreza WRX, available in Sedan and 5-Door models, has been redesigned using the wide
WRX STI body style. It features performanceoriented styling features including:
     - Wider wheel rims (17-inch x 8-inch) in Gunmetal Gray alloy - with 235/45 R17 summer
       performance tires
     - Dynamic flow from front to rear with more pronounced front fenders and rear quarter panels
     - New front styling, with black mesh grille insert and blacked-out Subaru floating wing and 
       WRX badge
     - Front fender side scoop with new chrome WRX badge
     - Chrome satin-finish accents on rear of Sedan models
     - Small trunk spoiler on WRX Sedan models
     - A new rear bumper
The new Impreza WRX STI Sedan features wide-body design and performance equipment to match the 5-Door model, plus a large rear spoiler, which contributes to a lower drag coefficient and more stable highspeed handling
The front of all WRX and WRX STI models has been redesigned. The front bumper and grille design are new. The grille is a mesh type with a model designation badge. All models now feature a rear diffuser
Polished stainless steel quad-tailpipe exhaust tips with a larger, 3-inch diameter now standard on all WRX and WRX STI models
A power moonroof is standard on all WRX Premium, WRX Limited and WRX STI Limited models
A four-headlight system with High Intensity Discharge (HID) low-beam and multi-reflector halogen high-beam lamps; includes a manual adjustment control to raise or lower the headlight beam depending on vehicle load to reduce glare for oncoming vehicles, now standard on all WRX Limited models along with all WRX STI models
Fog lamps are standard on WRX STI Limited Sedan
18-inch aluminum wheels weigh 17.6 pounds less than previous standard WRX STI wheels,
to reduce unsprung weight, which helps improve handling by keeping the tires on the road
     - High-luster Silver alloy wheels are standard on WRX STI Sedan
     - BBS-brand high-luster Silver alloy wheels are standard on the WRX STI Limited Sedan and
       WRX STI 5-Door models

Interior:
Upgraded AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player and MP3/WMA capability is standard on  all Impreza WRX and WRX STI models. The system includes:
     - Six upgraded speakers
     - Bluetooth® hands-free phone connectivity (with steering-wheel-mounted controls)
     - Bluetooth audio streaming (for wirelessly connecting mobile devices)
     - iPod® control capability
