Fueled by Generosity: 600 Scholars Strong with Sommer’s Subaru - Mitzi K.

As our 600 All-In Milwaukee scholars pack their bags and head back to campus this fall, we are reminded just how much it takes for these remarkable students to reach and persist in college. They are bright, determined, and trailblazing. 100% limited-income, 98% students of color, and 86% first-generation college students. And they are changing the future of Milwaukee. This year, we are able to serve and support so many scholars because of the generosity of partners like Sommer’s Subaru. Thanks to their commitment and the incredible Subaru Share the Love Event, All-In Milwaukee received $52,129. This gift is not just a number; it represents the comprehensive wraparound support offered to students through scholar advisor relationships. Each advisor works closely with ~65 college scholars, providing them with support that extends beyond the typical scope offered by most institutions or scholarship programs. Scholar advisors take a holistic approach that supports scholars on the four pillars of the AIM Model: Financial Aid and Literacy, Academic Advising, Socio-Emotional Wellness, and Career Readiness. Because of this generosity, 90% of our scholars are persisting in college and 91% are meeting academic requirements, keeping them on track to graduate in six years or less. Already, 140 graduates have begun their careers, 91% of them right here in Wisconsin, strengthening our local workforce and community. And the momentum doesn’t stop here. We are welcoming 200 new scholars in the class of 2026, and by 2029, we aim to double our reach to 1,000 scholars in college at once. That vision is possible because of supporters like Sommer’s Subaru and every individual who chose All-In Milwaukee during the Share the Love Event. To all who shared the love with us: thank you. Your belief in our students transforms not just their lives, but the future of our city.

Named after the stunning redbud trees that bloom across our city each May, the festival was designed to be a warm, welcoming space where people could gather, celebrate, and make new memories. Warm Blankets and Warmer Hearts - Brenda K.

The generous staff of Sommer’s Subaru chose to support Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s once again through the Subaru Loves to Care Initiative. In partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), Subaru of America retailers across the country provide beautiful, warm blankets, comforting patient care kits and notes of encouragement written by their showroom guests. This particular delivery was very rewarding as the group was able to visit with a few patients in the infusion center to personally present the gifts to them. The patients were very appreciative of the support from Sommer’s Subaru and expressed that just having someone to talk to was a gift in itself. The five LLS team members in attendance were touched by the kindness of both the Sommer’s Subaru team and the healthcare providers, and we truly enjoyed the conversations with the patients! LLS Executive Director, Kortney Hamm, shared, “Our partnership with Subaru continues to provide hope, community, comfort, and support to cancer patients in our communities. We couldn’t be more grateful for the continued engagement from our local hospital partnerships and the Subaru teams in showing how we can rally for patients that we serve.”

Family Promise would like to send a huge thank you to Sommer’s Subaru for collecting winter coats for families who are experiencing a housing crisis in Ozaukee County! Your support will help families stay warm this winter, and we are so grateful for the care and thoughtfulness you’ve shown. We were able to distribute the coats to families in our shelter program, Rapid Re-housing and Homeless Prevention programs. One mom said, “this couldn’t have come at a better time! My son’s coat from last year doesn’t fit him anymore and I didn’t know how I was going to be able to afford a new one for him.” Thank you to Sommer’s for making a difference in many lives in Ozaukee County!

Sommer's Subaru Supports Animals in Need! - Billy Z.

The Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus is so grateful for the generosity of Sommer's Subaru during the Subaru Loves Pets campaign this past October. With their assistance, we were able to provide the much needed care and medical support for animals in our shelter like Mrs. Jingle. She came in as a stray and was underweight, dirty, and sick. Our vet staff was able to treat her for her upper respiratory infection and she quickly was getting the loving attention she needed for a speedy recovery. After being in our care for over a month, she finally was ready for her spay surgery and quickly found her new home. These stories are not possible without the support of our community and companies like Sommer's Subaru. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of animals in need!

Celebrating a New Chapter: A Heartfelt Thank You to Sommer’s Subaru of Mequon, WI - Jenny H.

**Celebrating a New Chapter: A Heartfelt Thank You to Sommer’s Subaru** Over the past year, Jewish Family Services (JFS) has been a lifeline to over 2,500 individuals, providing crucial mental health support, social services, and safe, affordable housing. A core part of our supportive housing services is our transportation program, which ensures that 220 seniors and individuals with disabilities reach their medical appointments safely and on time. Our dedicated team has managed more than 3,000 round trips annually, a testament to the importance of this service. For the last 14 years, our trusty wheelchair-adapted van has been at the heart of this mission. But this summer, after enduring countless miles and weathering numerous challenges—including a broken air conditioning system and eventual breakdowns—the van’s journey came to an end. The final trip was particularly alarming: on a sweltering day, the van broke down on the highway, stranding wheelchair-bound Irma and critically ill Frances along with our distressed driver, Mortez. In a moment of great need, Sommer’s Subaru of Mequon stepped in with extraordinary generosity. They not only facilitated the purchase of a brand-new minivan but also helped secure additional donations, making it possible for JFS to acquire a new vehicle equipped with a rear-door wheelchair-accessible conversion. This new minivan fits perfectly in our facility's parking garage and can now pick up residents directly from the elevator inside, ensuring their safety and protecting against weather damage and theft. The new van will dramatically reduce maintenance issues and costs, replacing a vehicle that had faced numerous thefts and repair challenges. Thanks to Sommer’s Subaru, JFS can continue to provide uninterrupted, reliable transportation for our residents, ensuring they receive the care they need without delay. On behalf of JFS Housing and the 220 residents who rely on this essential service, we extend our deepest gratitude to Sommer’s Subaru. Your support has not only provided a vehicle but also a renewed sense of hope and security for those we serve. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our community members.

Sommer's Subaru Loves to Care for Blood Cancer Patients - Brenda K.

On a warm June morning, staff from Sommer’s Subaru pulled up to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Cancer Center in Milwaukee with their Subaru stuffed with gifts for cancer patients. As a repeat partner of the cancer center, Sommer’s Subaru has “Loved to Care” for the cancer patients for years. These warm, fleece blankets may have seemed an unusual gift considering the warmth outside, but patients who are in the cancer center for infusions tend to get the chills. These blankets partnered with notes of encouragement from Sommer’s Subaru showroom guests truly do warm the hearts and bodies of the patients during their treatment. Subaru of America is the largest national auto partner of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the impact of these Subaru retailers across the country is huge! Through the partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Subaru and their retailers will have supported nearly 350,000 cancer patients nationwide by the end of this year. But the impact of this partnership is even greater - it has also strengthened LLS’s relationships with local hospitals & allowed LLS to reach new patients and connect them to critical resources we provide. LLS staff Brenda King and the Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s team wish to express their thanks to Grant Sommer and his Subaru staff for supporting the patients of the Greater Milwaukee Area over the years.

Putting "Bigs" in Youth's Lives - Nicole B.

Thanks to Sommer's Subaru and Share the Love, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee creates new, safe, and caring friendships for local youth. People they can depend on, confide in, and just have fun with both in school and outside of school in the community. Big Sister Anna and Little Sister Leila's friendship came at a very vulnerable time in Leila and her parents' lives. Her parents and teachers knew she needed someone that was just for her to help her process her grief, feel good about herself, and have something to look forward to. Anna and Leila met weekly at school where they could talk about their week, work on schoolwork, play games, and just enjoy each other's company. Together they shared their ups and downs, but always made sure they ended with a smile and a laugh. According to Leila's dad, "Anna has turned our daughter from a little girl into someone who is confident, and it's been kind of crazy the transformation she made for Leila. I just feel like that's her person." Leila shared, "Anna helped me feel more confident in myself and she's just really great. I love seeing her every week." Being a friend sounds so simple, but Big Brothers Big Sisters' friendships can be transformative and live long. Anna and Leila is just one example of the power of friendships and mentors. Not only for the youth, but their Big Brother/Sister as well. According to Anna, "I couldn't be more pleased with my match with Leila. Its' been a great relationship for me in my life." Thanks to Sommer's Subaru and Share the Love, we are able to make a difference in over 150 youth each year. Creating and supporting friendships that ignite the power and promise of local youth!

All-In Milwaukee Support - Allison W.

All-In Milwaukee, a local non-profit organization that ensure low-income, students of color graduate from college, has been supported by Sommers Subarus for years! Not only have we been the charity of the "feel the love" holiday event, but we are also the beneficiaries of the 2024 ADAMM Party with a purpose. It has been an honor to partner with Sommers Subaru and ADAMM to grow the support for our program. Today, we have 415 students in our program that we are helping through college and into their careers. Our graduation rates would not be possible without the Subaru and ADAMM support.

THANK YOU SOMMER'S SUBARU!

Sommers Subaru is a great Community Partner - Kathleen S.

Sommers Subaru is a great community partner. Sommers works with a variety of community organizations volunteering both their time and providing donations. Sommer's Subaru Supports Animals in Need Like Tiny Pinecone! - Billy Z.

Pinecone was barely 3 months old when he was hit by a car. He had open wounds from his mouth all the way down to his severely damaged tail, and it was clear that his hind leg was broken. Despite all the trauma to his little body, he was still softly purring and leaning in as we carefully examined him. Our veterinary team cleaned and closed his wounds, soon discovering he was also suffering from a hernia. X-rays revealed that the fracture to his femur was beyond repair and he had lost the ability to move his tail. Pinecone was sedated and underwent a double amputation surgery. Even tail-less on three legs, he's been all purrs at WHS, hopping over for chin scratches from anyone who visits. During the Subaru Loves Pets month this past October, our Ozaukee campus was able to match little Pinecone with a loving family. Our work directly relies on the support of the community, and we can't thank Sommer's Subaru enough for continuing their advocacy for animals when they need us most. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Sommer's Subaru and their incredible generosity for animals in need!

Sommer's Subaru & LLS Blanket Drop at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's - Megan B.

Our friends at Sommer’s Subaru partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to deliver hope and warmth to blood cancer patients, on July 19th. Grant Sommer and John Scudder, representatives from Sommer’s Subaru alongside hospital staff members Shari Forbes and Beth Garbe unpacked Sommer’s Subaru’s generous donation of 80 blankets, 10 patient care kits, and messages of hope for families facing cancer. Also, in attendance was LLS representative, Steven Bloom, and LLS volunteer/Light the Night team captain, Roxanne Carloni. Roxanne is a 20+ year cancer survivor and used to receive treatment at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s. Roxanne and Steven had the opportunity to chat with local patients and hand out blankets in both the infusion and radiation clinics. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by hospital staff and cancer patients. Thank you so much Sommer's Subaru staff for providing messages of hope and reminding cancer patients that there’s a big community supporting them along their journey!

Sommer's Subaru Helping Homeless Animals! - Billy Z.

A truly heartfelt thank you to Sommer’s Subaru for their generous support of our work with homeless animals in Ozaukee County. The Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee campus continually is receiving animals that are stray, surrendered, and even transported from other shelters in the state or beyond. During the Subaru Loves Pets month this past October, our Ozaukee campus received a little stray dog that had seen better days. “Curly” was matted, thin, limping, and had an ear infection that was bothering him. Our vet staff quickly got to work cleaning him up and addressing his medical needs. After being neutered, microchipped, having nails trimmed, shaved, and receiving medical treatments, Curly was adopted into a loving home only 10 days later. Stories like “Curly’s” are commonplace at WHS, but none of it is possible without the fantastic support of Subaru and everyone in our community!

Sommer's Subaru Gifts the Cancer Patients of Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Brenda K.

On July 6th members of the Sommer’s Subaru staff visited Columbia St. Mary’s of Ozaukee with arms full of blessings for the oncology patients. Warm fleece blankets may sound like an unusual gift to give in the middle of summer, but cancer patients know better as hours-long chemotherapy infusions tend to give patients the chills. But these blankets are much more than physical warmth – they are a symbol of the comfort in knowing that your community cares about your well-being and is cheering for you throughout your treatment. The Columbia St. Mary’s team welcomed the Subaru representatives, Brooke Sahlstrom of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and volunteers Amanda Baltz and her daughter Madeline. As they have had close friends and family members battle cancer, Madeline and Amanda were so happy to join in this delivering 80 blankets, 30 craft kits and many handwritten notes encouragement from Subaru customers. These gifts will be shared with the patients at both the Ozaukee and Milwaukee campuses. This act of generosity by Sommer’s Subaru is just the most recent as they have partnered with the local LLS staff as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program since 2017. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is grateful to generous local businesses for partnering with cancer care facilities to improve the quality of life of our patients and their families throughout their treatment and survivorship!

Kari's Busy Life! - Carole S.

Subaru’s Share the Love event and Sommer’s Subaru partnership impacts the lives of more than 200 adults with intellectual/developmental disAbilities – people often overlooked by our society. The generous gifts by Subaru and Sommer’s supports opportunities for people with disabilities to lead full and meaningful lives in the community. Kari is a 35-year old woman, residing with her parents. As Kari gets to know others, she shines with motivation, enthusiasm and inspiration – whether it be creating an art project, volunteering with seniors, or stocking shelves and interacting with customers at her place of employment. Kari participates in Portal’s three core programs: Supported Employment Services, Community and Day Services, and Social/Recreational Services. Additionally, she is active with our Art Education Program (Art Applause) and our Service Leadership Club (Kiwanis Aktion). Through all these activities, Kari leads a full and active life in her community and is becoming more confident with social interactions with both peers and other community members. Using her positive work ethic and organizational skills, Kari stocks shelves and faces products while greeting customers at her part time job at a large retail store. And during the height of the global pandemic, she was considered an “essential employee”. Additionally, Kari volunteers at least four hours per week – donating her time and talents to a local food pantry, clothing drive or senior center. Through Portal’s Social/Recreation Services, Kari enjoys art projects, outdoor nature activities, musicals, festivals and sporting events. Sommer's Subaru Supports Local Homeless Animals! - Billy Z.

We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of Sommer's Subaru to homeless animals in Ozaukee County! The Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus serves so many animals that come in stray or surrendered that there are countless stories that could be shared. We do our very best to provide excellent love and attention to the animals in our care each and every day and that is made possible by the incredible support of companies like Subaru. One specific cat that was adopted during the Subaru Loves Pets month this year was a little guy named Cucumber. Cucumber came in with a concerning lame back leg and a painful corneal scar. With the attentive help of our vet team and lots of love from our foster volunteers, Cucumber made a full recovery in the caring hands of our staff and volunteers. He is now happy and healthy living with his new family. Stories like Cucumber's are made possible by the outpouring of generosity from the local community and Subaru. Recently we were able to provide a tour to the team at Sommer's and meet a hound dog who was being treated for heartworm. We are thankful for the continued donations as well as the time commitment to build partnerships to better the lives of animals in the community. Thank you Sommer's Subaru for all of your ongoing support!

Thank You Sommer's Subaru! - Heidi W.

Sommer's Subaru helped launch Art & Chalk Fest at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in 2017. They recognized the value in providing this one-of-a-kind celebration of Wisconsin's art and culture free for the community and visitors to the area to take part. It is through their ongoing support that the museum continues to share this festival annually each year, welcoming 20,000+ visitors to the museum campus to explore, learn, and have fun together for free. Visitors of all ages watch the artistic process of painters, sculptors, and chalk artists, talk with artists, chalk the street, check out the art on view in the galleries, listen to music, and come away with a summertime memory that is quickly becoming a beloved tradition. At the Museum of Wisconsin Art, we are passionate about Wisconsin and make it a priority to connect audiences to relevant, accessible, and educational arts experiences produced by the innovative creatives in the state. Community-minded partners like Sommer's Subaru make it possible. So the next time you get into a Sommer's Subaru, driving safely, comfortably, and fashionably to your destination, know that they have a strong sense of social accountability and care about enriching the communities in which we live and work. Thank you Sommer's Subaru for being an inaugural partner of one of the best arts festivals in Wisconsin!
