4th Generation (2014-2018)

If you’re looking for a bargain on a Subaru Forester, you’ll likely be able to find it in any of the five models in the fourth generation. However, right smack in the middle of the fourth generation is the perfect balance between more modern features and a bargain price in the form of the 2016. 

The 2016 Subaru Forester features a high-quality cabin and a lot of the same features that the final model of the fourth generation, the 2018 Forester has. The 2016 Forester has the same engine options and AWD capability as the 2018, new safety equipment options, and is the first model that introduced the standard touchscreen infotainment system.

That’s not to say that the 2014 or 2015 models are archaic by any means, but Milwaukee area shoppers can go as far back as 2016 and find similar features they can find on Subaru Forester models as recent as three years ago.

5th Generation (2019-Present)

Shopping used and certified pre-owned is a great way to get behind the wheel of a vehicle that’s only a couple of years old, and it’s an even better deal considering the complete redesign of the Subaru Forester in 2019.

As the first model in a new generation, the 2019 Forester is a bit scarce, though the 2020 Forester carries the momentum of the redesign by adding a lane-centering feature, a tire pressure indicator for each tire, an LED lamp that illuminates the license plate, Apple CarPlay standard, and more.

While the 2020 Forester is only a year removed from the newest addition to the lineup, Milwaukee area shoppers can still save on a big purchase without sacrificing a ton of features by buying a used Forester.
