Additionally, the 2023 Ascent features a brand-new trim level, the Onyx. The Ascent Onyx includes a dark-toned exterior, blacked-out badging, 20-inch wheels and water-repellent fabric seat coverings inside. The Onyx is based on the seven-passenger Premium trim, adding reverse automatic braking system, hands-free power liftgate, heated steering wheel, a proximity key with push-button start and an available panoramic sunroof.

While the Ascent may be the roomiest model, there are plenty of other alternatives:

Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback offers more passenger room than the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, or Jeep Grand Cherokee, and has 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Available cargo area release levers make it even easier to fold the rear seats down, giving up to 75.7 cubic feet of cargo volume to haul even more.

Subaru Forester
